love, admiration and respect

A sweet man planned a surprise birthday party for his wife's birthday. He asked me to photograph it. He also asked me to create a slideshow of pictures through his wife's life.

He's known his wife since high school. In every picture they have together they are so in love. You can just feel the love and happiness coming from each moment captured in time.

He and his wife have been married for 31 years.

They spent most of the party apart from one another, mingling with friends. But when they got together you could just feel the love, admiration and respect they have for each other.

And while watching them dance, I totally started crying... I just could not hold back the tears. It was so shocking to me that they each found someone who loves them completely.

Then, it shocked me that it made me so emotional. It made me realize that maybe I didn't believe in love like that. Like I had never seen it before. It was just a love that people talk about, but that doesn't really exist.

After getting divorced I thought if I could just find a guy who is thoughtful, has a job, treats me well, treats my girls well, loves the gospel, then I would have it made.

But now, that's not enough. On top of all of those check-list items we must be completely madly in love. Because I don't want to have just a good marriage... I want a GREAT marriage. And anything less than that is not worth it to me.

Now accepting applications. I'm ready to get this ball rolling :)

  1. Sounds like you've got it...

    Don't settle.

It never works (believe me, I've tried), and if you can be patient the real thing is out there. I promise. ;)
